Everything You Need To Know About Telehandlers

Jan 06, 2025

What is a telehandler?
A telehandler is an industrial forklift that is specifically designed for off-highway applications, such as construction sites and terrain where regular forklifts are not suitable. Telehandlers typically have two or three arms, which allows them to reach higher heights than traditional lifts, and with their high load capacity, they can transport heavier objects, often transporting entire pallets of goods at once.

Benefits of telehandlers:
On-road and off-road capabilities
Telehandlers: They are ideal for tasks such as loading heavy equipment onto a truck or lifting material to the side of a building.

How does a telehandler work?
The typical construction of a telehandler consists of a base support that connects all four corners, allowing each corner arm to extend independently while being held securely in place by four support arms located below each corner joint – these small time-saving adjustments help increase productivity and greatly reduce downtime in busy workplaces where speed is of the essence!

Internally, these units have hydraulic cylinders that are controlled by levers that connect directly to the sides of the boom, allowing you to precisely control the load height and direction of travel. This makes it easy to place with precision when handling fragile items or valuable cargo!

Telehandler certification requirements
Due to their higher complexity compared to other lifts, it is important that any operator using lifts has the proper certifications before attempting any type of operation on site. Failure to comply can lead to not only potential injuries but also liability issues, so make sure your workplace remains compliant by having employees complete a forklift training program provided by a certified dealer!
