As the seasons change and temperatures begin to drop, electric forklifts face some new challenges during daily operation. Changes in temperature can affect the response of the hydraulic system, battery runtime, and the stability of electrical components. Proper autumn maintenance helps keep the forklift running reliably, reduce unexpected faults, and extend its service life.

1. Hydraulic System
Lower temperatures can increase the viscosity of hydraulic oil, which may affect pump efficiency and lifting smoothness.
Check the hydraulic oil regularly for clarity and changes in viscosity. If the oil becomes dark due to oxidation or shows signs of emulsification, replace it in time. The hydraulic oil should also be selected according to the season and operating temperature.
Temperature changes between day and night can cause rubber and plastic seals to harden or shrink. Pay close attention to the lifting cylinder, tilt cylinder, and high-pressure hose connections during routine checks. If you notice any signs of oil leakage, replace the seals in time.
Clean or replace clogged return and suction filters. Make sure air is fully removed from the hydraulic circuit to prevent problems such as mast sticking, shaking, or weak lifting.
2. Electrical and Power System: Moisture Protection and Battery Care
The temperature difference between day and night in autumn can lead to condensation, which puts higher demands on the electrical system and battery performance.
Low temperatures can reduce battery discharge efficiency. For lead-acid batteries, regularly check the electrolyte level and remove any impurities. For lithium batteries, pay attention to the charging temperature and avoid forcing fast charging at very low temperatures.
Also check the main controller, contactor, and sensor connectors. Clean off dust and any condensation regularly to prevent poor electrical contact or fault codes.
3. Mast and Steering Components: Lubrication and Rust Protection
Proper lubrication helps keep moisture away from key components and reduces wear.
Remove old grease and dirt from the mast rails and lifting chains, then apply a high-adhesion professional grease. This helps prevent chain rust and reduce friction. Add fresh grease to the steering knuckles, drive axle, and other joints to push out any remaining moisture and dirt, keeping the steering smooth and flexible.
4. Daily Routine Inspection
Before operation: Check the area under the forklift for leaks and make sure the battery level and hydraulic oil level are normal.
During operation: Pay attention to whether lifting and tilting movements are smooth and free of unusual noises. Also check the dashboard for any abnormal warnings.
After operation: Lower the mast completely and release the pressure in the hydraulic system. Park the forklift in a dry, well-ventilated area and connect the charging equipment according to the proper procedure.
